🐄 Step into a 1920s corner grocery with this original Foodland Evaporated Milk can label from Foodland Inc., distributors, Cleveland, Ohio. This is true new old stock (NOS) that never made it onto a can, so the colors and printing look almost exactly as they did when it came off the press. Size is about 9 3/4" x 3 1/2", the classic tall evaporated‑milk format.

🌾 In the years before every kitchen had a refrigerator, evaporated milk was one of the quiet essentials in the pantry. Cans like this went into pies, puddings, fudge, casseroles, and breakfast coffee, pulled from recipe clippings and church cookbooks. Regional brands such as Foodland tried to win a spot in the shopping basket with friendly, trustworthy graphics that felt close to home, not like some distant corporation.

🏡 This artwork nails that feeling: a sturdy dairy cow stands in a soft country pasture under a pale sky, framed by warm gold bands and bold FOODLAND EVAPORATED MILK lettering that would have jumped off the shelf. On the right you get a block of tiny type spelling out what’s in the can and everything it’s good for—exactly the kind of reassuring label copy your great‑grandparents would have actually read.

🖨️ The label was printed using early lithography, when color art meant real plates, real ink, and careful registration instead of pixels. Printers often ran more labels than the packing line needed, and when Foodland updated its look, leftover bundles like this one were simply stacked, tied, and forgotten in storage. Decades later they turn up as time capsules: unused labels that show you exactly what a 1920s grocery shelf really looked like.

🖼️ Framed under glass, this becomes instant farm‑kitchen décor. It looks right at home over a coffee bar, in a pantry, in a farmhouse dining room, or on the wall of a creamery or café. Pair it with old milk bottles, a cream can, or family photos and it stops being “just a label” and turns into a little story about how people actually lived and ate a hundred years ago.

📏 Approximate size 9 3/4" x 3 1/2". Original c. 1920s Foodland Evaporated Milk label from Cleveland, Ohio, unused NOS with bright color—authentic vintage packaging art, not a modern reprint.
